Since 2018, Trelson has been helping schools around the world lock down and control students’ computers during exams and lessons. We prevent students from being distracted by their computers and take away the opportunity to cheat on exams. In other words; we enable teachers to safely assess their students’ knowledge.

We are a team of around 10 people, which means that every single person who works with Trelson is of great importance to the business.

The Role

You will work directly with our CTO, who contributes to the codebase every day, and together you will form our engineering team. You will not only build features, you will own parts of the platform and be responsible for quality, performance and direction over time.

Our sales and account managers are our closest partners in product development, along with our actual customers and end users. Working closely with them is a big part of how we decide what to build next.

Since we are a small team, the role is broad. You might be building a new feature, improving something existing, investigating a production issue with support, fixing a bug you discovered yourself, or rethinking a workflow. We expect you to be equally curious and comfortable no matter what you are working on.

What You’ll Be Doing

Build and maintain Trelson’s platform across the full stack, with a focus on speed, quality and security
Own parts of the application, including their performance, architecture, and long-term improvement
Build features that integrate with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
Help support investigate and resolve technical issues they can’t handle alone
Contribute to technical decisions and architecture together with the CTO
Maintain code quality through reviews and continuous improvement
Bring your own ideas and take them from concept to production
Use AI development tools as a natural part of your workflow

Who We’re Looking For

First and foremost: you need to be sharp. We’re not looking for someone who gets by, we’re looking for someone who stands out. Someone who thinks harder, digs deeper, and holds themselves to a standard that most people don’t bother with.

You probably have a degree in software engineering, and 2-5 years of professional experience. But what matters more than your CV is how you think and how seriously you take your work.

Are curious by nature and want to understand why, not just how
Spot problems before they become problems, and fix them
Are comfortable doing whatever is needed, regardless of whether it’s “your” area
Don’t need to be told to improve something, you see it and you do it
Are honest when something is wrong, including when it’s your own work
Use AI tools naturally in your day-to-day work

Qualifications

Requirements:

Degree in software engineering, computer science, or equivalent work experience
2-5 years of professional software development experience
Experience working across both frontend and backend
Experience writing tested, secure, and maintainable code
Fluent in Swedish and English, spoken and written

Nice to have:

Experience with Go, Python, TypeScript, Vue, GCP
Experience building integrations against Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
Familiarity with Google Admin Console and/or Microsoft Entra (Azure AD)
Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG and EN 301 549)
